Hello Campers! Below you can find out more about some of the things that makes Camp what it is, or if you're planning to be at camp this year as a worker, why not put your name forward to help in one or more of the following areas?

Sports pictures

Sports

Whatever your game there is something for everyone at Camp. Football and Cross country through to potted sports and bouncy castles. An enormous number of activities get crammed into the daylight hours.
A full timetable is planned with sessions mornings and afternoons. Everyone is given a team colour during registration and getting involved through the week wins points for your team.

Some activities cover all age ranges others split into Juniors and Seniors. All activities are supervised by the Sports staff, an experienced team who ensure safe and fair play.

What the campers said:
"Good for those sporty folks"
"Always a full and varied programme"
"Some crazy games amazing how much is fitted into a week"

(Andy runs sports - what is under his sunglasses? Really though - if we never find out what's under there how can we know he's human? Seriously. --Ed)

Arts and Craft pictures

Arts and Crafts

Alongside the games out on the field there also runs a full arts and crafts programme. These tend to take place inside and there is a massive range of activities with special items each day.

A small fee may be payable for some of the more complex designs. Again there is the chance to earn your team points by doing good work. Most days it is possible to mix the sports and arts and crafts activities as you wish.

What the campers said:
"Cheap and always cheerful"
"Great presents to take home"

Kickstart

If you have questions about life, Christianity or in fact any subject that is troubling you then Kickstart is the place to visit. Run along side the days activities it is an opportunity to find out what the bible says about the many issues facing today's young people.
Style is definitely informal, sometimes described as "off the wall" but there is a real desire to offer guidance for those searching for answers.

What the campers said:
"Something for Christians and non Christians"
"Covers a broad range of very real topics"
"Streetwise"

(PS: There are no motorcross bikes involved. Sorry. --Ed)

Meetings pictures

Meetings

Each morning and evening there are fun packed meetings for everyone to enjoy. 400 people in a tent create a fantastic atmosphere and the music and singing are a highlight. After a programme of quizzes, fun spots and praise we have a short talk where a bible story is recounted and the importance of the love of the Lord Jesus is explained.

The main reason for holding a camp at all is to tell boys and girls that they are important to God and that by believing in his son the Lord Jesus Christ we can all be set free from the guilt of the things we have done wrong and in addition we can look forward to eternal life in heaven.

In the mornings two meetings are held to accommodate the differing age ranges but in the evening everyone gets together in the main marquee for a great time that is always the highlight of the week.

What the campers said:
"Meetings have varied styles but a common appeal"
"It's great to sing with so many other Christians"
"Lively, varied and thought provoking"

Early Morning Bible Study

The Camp day starts at 7.15 am when workers of all age join together in the Main Meeting Tent for a time of Bible Study and Prayer, accompanied by a cuppa! Each morning someone will open the Bible passage in question and will lead an informal discussion. The last 15-20 mins of the study will be taken up with a time of prayer for the forthcoming day.

What the campers said:
"Very early!"

Cookhouse

An essential to any holiday is good food. There are many stories about camp cooking but a week at Misterton will soon put you right. Three square meals a day plus supper, one thing is for sure you will not be going hungry! A recently installed industrial kitchen manned by willing helpers serves in excess of 8000 meals during the space of a week.

Food is served in the elegant surroundings of the main barn. It is never difficult to find a friend and enjoy good wholesome food.

(Unfortunately we are not able to provide for special dietry requirements but if you make your needs known we will try to offer assistance where possible).

What the campers said:
"Lots of eating and socialising"
"Needs a Subway" (We haven't installed the train track yet! --Ed)
"It's great, I don't have to cook for a week!"

Tents pictures

Tents

All campers live and sleep in one of the camp tents. These are segregated into boys and girls zones and are led by a Tent Leader and an Assistant.

Probably the most important role on camp the tent leader is the first point of contact if you have any worries. They have all had training into the requirements of the role and are supported by the more mature 'backups' as well as the tent leaders organising team who meet daily to ensure there are no major concerns.

What the campers said:
"Tents are an amazing experience"
"Tent leaders do a great job!"
"The most important job on camp"

Bar pictures

Coffee Bars

Even when the sun has gone down the programme of organised activities goes on. Coffee bars are arranged for juniors, seniors and OAPs. there really is something for everyone with entertaining sketches, challenging drama, intense quizzes or simply a mug of hot chocolate and a natter. Lights out is at 1100 pm after which you had better be tucked up in your sleeping bag or else!

What the campers said:
"A great place to get out of the rain"
"Famous for its hot chocolate"
"Dan and Chris rule!"

(Dave runs the JCB, he has a wicked trendy-beard and the initials DH.
I like Dave and I once was involved in kidnapping him. True story.

The SCB team are usually exposing, reporting and larging it up in the field!
Another Dave is officially in charge - but between Dan, Ash and I we ususally manage to bring some anarchy to the proceedings. Which is nice.

The senior, senior coffee bar, is well, senior. --Ed)
